Five years now
I type this note to all of you with much gratitude. It has been five years now and I can tell the new ones that life does get easier and you will get stronger. Although I am five years out, I am always aware of this disease and it is never terribly far from my mind. I am extremely grateful to my doctors and nurses, family and friends (including those on our site) for everything done on my behalf years ago and now. Although many people out in the world forget, over time, what one must go through with a diagnosis and treatment, those of us who have "been there" are forever aware and understand the need to support others in all phases of their lives. Thank you so much for your great kindness to me and others touched by this disease.
Love,
karen z.

Re: Five years now
Dear Karen -
Our Elite Five Year Club grows with each passing month. Glad to be here myself to welcome you in.
Not everyone knows what a major milepost five years is for someone with our shared brand of breast cancer. But the odds of some kind of relapse drop by many degrees if a patient can reach this point.
Stay vigilant, but enjoy your success even more!

Re: Five years now
Karen, many congratulations to you!!!!
I'm right behind you and celebrate next month, and loved Steph's comments about the risk of recurrance dropping after a five years.
I know there are no guarantee's, but am so happy to see so many of us here of late reaching that magical 5!!!

Re: Five years now
Karen Z
Welcome to the 5 yr. Club. I am so very happy for you.
It is interesting and amazing how much a dx. of bc will change our lives. Little did we know in the early days how much graditude we would have for the everyday things in our life. Each day brings new insight and patience, kindness, strength and a deep awarness of others.
May God continue to bless you with continued good health and strength.
Much Love,
Jean
