My sis made it through her third AC treatment
after a week's reprieve for the Fourth of July holiday and an additonal week because of blood clots. She was edgy about the use of the port with the clots not totally resolved, but so far so good. Her usual worst days are the second day after treatment and the subsequent four or so days after that. I stayed until yesterday and came on home when it looked like she was doing ok. She has one more of the AC in three weeks and then she begins the weekly taxol and herceptin.
My mind goes ahead to anticipating the rigors of the next part of her regimen and I've read the info the Dr. has given her about side effects, but of course nothing says exactly what she will experience.....The Dr. has said that the AC is the harder of the chemos, and I'm really trying to believe it. She was very ill with the blood clot and a respiratiory infection after the second AC. I know that some of you have done the 12 treatments of taxol and herceptin and wonder how you would compare it to AC.
You are all in my prayers regularly. I so apprectiate all the support my sis and I have received since I started to write....this forum is very special!

Thanks for the update Barb. I'm glad your sister made it through another round of the AC. Yes, AC is the harder of the treatments...at least for the majority of us. The next phase of treatment should be a bit easier for her (I Pray).
Again...thanks for letting us know. Send love and encouragement to your sister.

Hi Barb, my experience with taxotere (similiar to taxol) was way easier than the A/C but I was very tired. Sending out prayers that your sis will have an easier time too.
Hugs,
Diane

Thank you....
Her2 Sisters. It is so good of you to think of my sis and to take the time to respond to my posts. I really want to hope that the next part of her regimen is better tolerated than this AC.
I rented "Living Proof" today and hope to see it sometime real soon. I've been in the process of reading the book it's based on, but haven't finished it. I've heard good things about it.
Bless you all....
Barb A.

My sis's name is Eileen.
You know, I had to laugh when I saw Susan's question about her name....I realized that she has only been known as my "sis" since I started writing. It hadn't occurred to me that I'd given her no name until now! If any of you are praying for her, you can now pray by name!
As always, thanks for responding. If any of you had the twelve weeks of taxol and herceptin, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. I deal with things by knowing as much as possible before hand....
She takes things as they come, so I'm still the "filter". It works for us!
Always wishing the best for all of you.
Barb A.

AC!!! I had a hard time with it too. My friend who was diagnosed at the same time I was went to a wedding and several birthday parties while she was taking AC. I, on the other hand, ended up in the hospital for a frew days with a respiratory infection. My red blood cells also went way down and I could barely sit up. I was so sick that I didn't have my fourth treatment and the doctor delayed Taxol for one month so I could recover, which I did. Had no trouble with Taxol. In fact, I worked during Taxol. We are veterans of the cancer war.
