Hi,
I had two treatments of PDT a few years ago along with Imiquimod for Bowens disease on my leg. The treatments only took about twenty minutes each, when the PDT was being done another nurse would keep spraying the area on my leg with ice water which ensured no pain. The only discomfort I felt was when she stopped for a few seconds, it worked so far for me as it hasn't returned thankfully and hope your wife has a good response to it.
I can't help with the change of drugs but I'm someone else can.

Currently taking Arimidex..
June 2011 osteopenia/ zometa x1 yearly- stopped Zometa 2015 as Dexa show normal bone density.
Stopped Arimidex July 2014- Restarted Arimidex 2015 for a further two years on the advice of my Onc.
2014 Normal Dexa scan
2018 Mammo all clear, still NED!
