I don't know if the waiting period is the same for partial disability as it is for permanent disability. I am on permanent disability since Dec 04 after I had lumbar spinal fusion surgery (my 5th surgery in 6 years but not all to the back). I applied for disability social security and it took them about 2 months to approve my claim but I didn't get payments for the first 6 months (and never will) but after that I get my disability check every month. I don't know what I would do without it! I do know that cancer is a disease that is on the "list of accepted" disabilities. I'm sure your claim will be process in a fast and efficient manner. I wish you all the best.
