Michael,

The big answer is YES your sister can survive! I have no personal contact with liver metastasis but there are many many survivors on this site who have had or who are currently fighting liver mets.

We need a little more information if possible: You do not mention her age or what chemo drugs was she given initially. Are other drugs being used in conjunction with Herceptin? Herceptin has proven to be synergic with several other chemo drugs, meaning the two work better than either by itself.

Does she live close enough to a cancer center that it is possible to receive her treatments weekly rather than on a three week schedule? The dose dense regimen (once a week) is usually less traumatic than the three-week schedule, this may be important if her condition has her severely weakened. I know that someone will post with more specific chemo regimens suggestions that have brought their liver mets under control.

God Bless You,
ron
