Keep in mind that your uterus and ovaries may protect you against heart disease. And you are very young to go into surgically-induced sudden menopause. You may find it unbearable, and then need hormone replacement therapy to cope, which might well make you wonder why you were so quick to cut off your natural hormone supply.

I wouldn't do it if I were you. It doesn't seem necessary, and it's quite possible that if you wait until you've got a bit more normalcy in your life, you will not be so freaked out about recurrence or so willing to do drastic things. At any rate, you should get a second and maybe even third opinion.

I like the "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" analogy from higher up in this thread. I love my oncologist, and she's pretty unflappable, but I think that's true of her.
