Tykerb questions....and answers...for early stagers...
Like many of you when Tykerb was recently approved by the FDA
I questioned if Tykerb should be added to my treatment. I noticed
many on the board with questions. I spoke with Dr. Slamon and he
said the following:
"Tykerb is newly approved but just for recurrent Her2 positive breast cancer that has already been treated with trastuzumab. I'm certain that it will also prove effective in the adjuvent setting but those trials need to be performed so there are NO data yet in this setting. It is my hunch that it will be equally effective. As far as CNS recurrence issues are concerned, there are some
very SOFT data indicating that there may be benefit there but it is not very convincing just yet...
Hope this helps! (those early stagers)
Kind Regards,
Jean
