Back From 3-day Breast Cancer Walk
Hi all -
Well, we did our 3-day walk this week end. I have to tell you the experience is unbelievable. I am so grateful that I was able to be part of it. I was able to walk the entire first day which was about 20 miles without any problems. But at the end of the day I developed a HUGE blister which covered the entire bottom of my foot. I was not able to put pressure on it after that and could not walk the next 2 days. Needless to say I was very disappointed since I wanted so badly to come in with my team that last day. I was able to make the victory walk which was about 1/2 mile on the last day. My team was AWESOME and made the whole walk. I still tear up thinking about the whole thing.
The whole camping experience was so much fun. We had beautiful weather (a little cold at nite) but it was fun. The volunteers and medical staff and everyone associated with the event were so great to everyone. I can't truly explain to anyone unless you have taken part in one of these walks just how wonderful you feel just being there. Seeing people walking with injured legs, feet bandaged, sore backs but still walking just makes you want to cry and never complain again.
All in all I guess I did not do so badly since taking in to consideration that I am on chemo.
I am getting ready for next year.....
now on to my next adventure
