It's a small world after all.......

Yesterday I had my every 3 wk Herceptin...there was a woman who came & sat next to me, waiting for her treatment....we began chatting & found out that we are about the same age, both Her2+++, ER PR - , both with mets to the supraclavicular nodes, both on Herceptin every 3 weeks, both for 2 years on the Herceptin, both see the same Dr. & we both have our appts on the same day every 3 weeks for treatment & every 6 weeks for the Dr...the real surprise was to find out we live less than 1/2 apart here in Morris,IL & both go to Chicago every 3 weeks! Needless to say, I found a new BC friend & we plan to go together every 3 weeks from now on & make it a girls day out...treatment & lunch...makes the drive much more pleasant in traffic, & something to look forward to with a new found friend.
Breast Cancer does have some rewards !!! We both laughed that we had never met before! It is truly a Small World After All/

Hey Shelia,

After everything you have been through with your insurance companies and your grand-daughters sugeries, I think someone has sent you a reprieve (sp). An angel. I am so happy for you. I think this is the best thing that could have happened for you at a very good time.

I know I just met new friend in the wierdest place and it was like we have known each other for years. Isn't live just crazy sometimes with the greatest gifts? Have fun!

Sheila,

Have you or your new friend ever been to Cancer Treatment Center in Zion Illinois? I went there for a second opinion and ended up staying 6 weeks for rad. tx.

I pray you won't have the need, but if you should ever need to get rad. tx. this is the place to go. They have the most up to date equipment and it was the most caring hospital I have ever been in.

They have a special ceremony in the spring where they honor 5 year survivors by planting a live tree and engraving a brass leaf with the survivors name which is put on a large brass tree in their lobby. I'm planning to be there spring 2009 to plant my tree, so maybe I could meet you and your friend. You've got to have goals to survive!

Take care and I'm so glad you have a new friend. That is what I miss most about leaving the last center I was in. We were all in one big room and we had comeradere. I'm in a room all by myself at University Hospital. It's just not the same.

Blessings to you, Lu Ann.
