Hey all:

I am embarking on the Budwig diet, which recommends the heavy use of Flax Oil, and freshly ground flax seed in your daily intake.

I am her2+++, and Er+ Pr+ as well. I actually discussed this with my onc Monday, and he was ok with it.

I am presently on a chemo break, receiving Herceptin only, and hoping to put off a return to chemo for as long as possible, so this is a great time for an experiment like this.

It will be interesting to see if the flax addition has an impact on my situation. I am stage 4 with mets to liver and bones.

Presently still enjoying great quality of life. We're off to Mammoth in a couple of hours to enjoy a couple of days of spring snow skiing. Next week-end we're taking the boat to the lake for some water skiing, sure love living in southern CA!

Go for it Esther! You are one strong lady and it does inspire the rest of us. I have been using Flaxseed oil/low fat cottage cheese and ground flaxseed for over a year now. I don't have any proof its working except that I am NED at this time. Anything is worth a try for us all. Some of us are braver then others. The longer I am here the more braver I am becoming. I'm with you I am enjoying a great quality of life. Its is nice to see you posting more Esther as you give us so much encouragement many thanks for that. Sure miss Steph being away. Take care , hugs, Sandy

You go girl! What a healthy addition to your diet. I would like to add that it is my understanding that you need to actually mix it with cottage cheese before injesting, the oil needs to become one with it. I had done this for years and now alternate taking it with Hemp seeds/protein. I am happy to see that your enjoying life to the max. I need to get out of my daily grind and enjoy a vacation. Thanks for the post.

Hey Esther -
Always thinking, aren't you?
What else can be done easily to give a boost to the body in this interminable fight?? Ask a good question and a good answer will come around if we look hard enough.
Flax seed oil capsules or ground flax seed became part of my diet last winter after meeting Sandy at the San Antonio symposium. My hubby also takes it now without any prodding each and every morning.

Have not tried the oil with cottage cheese yet.
Is this supposed to be a more effective way to get the most out of the flax?

Hey Steph, the world traveler returns! How was Paris?

Anyway, the cottage cheese thinking is that the cottage cheese makes it easier for the body to absorb the flax oil

Plain Yoghurt can be substituted also. I like cottage cheese, and enjoy fruit smoothies with yoghurt, so it's been easy to combine the flax oil with either of them.

I just tried ground flax seed, I don't use the oil, and cottage cheese. Not a good idea. When mixed up it is very thick and difficult to swallow. I think I will try the ground flax with soy milk and berries and the cottage cheese separtely right before or after that. Maybe it would mix with yoghurt?

I have been putting the ground flax seeds on mhy cereal in the morning with 2% milk. That is when I don't take to oil capsules.
I had heard that this was ok, too.
Anyone with an opinion on this combo?
