I know this is whining, but does anyone else get really tired after they get Herceptin? I feel exhausted the day after. I don't know if it is the radiaiton still(i finished a month ago) or if it the herceptin. How long were you girls tired after radation? What helped? i feel like i'm 80 years old needing to nap after i've just gotten out of bed!! I hope its now my heart. I go for a muga next week.

Hi Michele! Long time no see. :-)

Nurse practitioner tells me that their patients generally take up to 1 year to diminish the fatigue, post-therapy (chemo, radiation, etc). I guess it's a long convalescence for us....

I'm still fatigued, but less now than before. I never failed my echo's & I have 2 months left on Herceptin.

I sure hope it's not related to your heart. Lemme know.

Tell me how you're doing these days. Email me! :-)

I found when on chemo/Heceptin I had to drink lots of water, eat healthy snacks between meals. I took lots of supplements including protein drinks to keep my energy up. It kept me busy doing all this but I felt better. I ate fresh vegetables and fruits. No fast foods, junk foods, soda or sweets. I know it sounds like we are giving up all the good things we enjoy but it was worth it in the end. I still eat the same way now that I am out of treatment. I hope this helps. Its not easy to do but life is no longer easy for us. Hugs, Sandy

I feel like I'm whining too, but I've felt consistently like I've been run over by a truck for the last 3 to 4 wks! It's particularly bad the day after treatment, which I receive wkly.... all I want to do is lie around. Definitely not my normal behavior. I've never been a napper, but now it's all I want to do. Marsha posted that she experienced the same thing and it turned out to be caused by her heart functioning below what it should be. Am due for a Muga, so don't know yet how that will turn out. However, no shortness of breath or swollen legs/ankles. Am off chemo for 3 wks to prepare for radiation for brain mets but am still receiving herceptin, so it will be interesting to see if this will continue. Hope it improves for both of us!!
