When my chest scan and pet scan showed mets to my lungs, the Dr. took them as truth, considering my history of her2 and this was my second mets. He didn't see any reason to do a biospy. They started me back up on chemo and did scans fairly often, which showed the growth which also confirms it. Patty H

Hi Eric,
I don't know of anyone who had a biopsy done on their lungs. Dr's just went by scans and started treatment. I'm hoping for the best for your wife.

In Jan 2003 I had a CT of my chest because I had coninuous cough , short of breath etc- It showed mets to my lungs (after being cancer free for 8 yrs) To confirm that it was cancer they did a bronchoscopy and biopsy which confirmed the cancer. My onc started me on taxotere and herceptin (I was HER2+++) It worked very well and pretty much obliterated the nodules and so far they have not come back (I have scans every 3 months)
