Trial help
Hello all,
Can't decide between 2 trials. I'm eligible for both. The first is NCT01532960, pilot study of a breast cancer vaccine plus poly-ICLC for breast cancer the second is NCT01632332, Vaccine therapy in treating patients with previously treated stage ll-lll HER2 positive breast cancer.
I was hoping someone could explain the difference and if one would be better than the other. They're both phase 1 and seem to both be Peptide vaccines.
Thanks,
Denise

Re: Trial help
Hi,
I can't explain the difference but I am also looking at the first one. The 2nd is too far for me to travel (I'm in Maryland).
Have you spoken to either of the two yet? I haven't, just started investigating.
Best
Janis

Re: Trial help
Hi jaykay,
We're neighbors, I'm in Delaware. I have an appointment on the 9th at the University of Virginia. You'll need to get blood work done to see if you're HLA positive to do the study.
I'm also flying to MN on the 13th. I've been doing this on my own, my doctor has been no help. I'm not sure if one is better than the other or that i'll have a better understanding after my appointments or not. I really can't afford the cost of flying to MN every 28 days, but I guess that's what credit cards are for.
Good luck to you!!!
Denise

Re: Trial help
Hi Denise,
I missed the HLA requirement for the UVA study. I am doing this on my own as well but my oncologist is very supportive. If I'm accepted into any of the trials, I would run it past her before starting. I trust her implicitly; been seeing her for almost 14 years.
Good luck next week in VA. Will be interested to hear how it goes
Janis

Re: Trial help
Hi Valleygirl,
I have completed all 6 vaccines at Mayo. I am now returning at various scheduled visits for follow up. If have private messaged you with my phone number if you want to talk about my experience and why I decided on this trial.
