when do you start on aromatase inhibitors?

Hello Amazing Group,

I was just wondering at what stage in your treatment if you are postmenopausal do you start on the aromatase inhibitors? And is one better than the other as far as protection as well as the least number of side effects? I haven't done my research yet on this subject so any leads and personal stories on this will be greatly appreciated.

Have A Great Day!

Donna

I started arimidex and radiation at the same time, after I finished chemo.

I think normal is after rads, but docs offer them during rads. My doc said it was my choice. BB

I started Femara after chemo (taxol) and after radiation but I take it while still getting Herceptin. I don't think anyone's clear on which one is "better". take it at night for less side effects.

I started AI's after rads and during Herceptin. My radiologist said it was my choice whether to start them during radiation, but if I had side effects from treatment, having all 3 treatments at once would make it difficult to determine which treatment caused which side effect. I considered her remarks, then decided to wait until I finished radiation.
