Hey, its a CT scan, Charlie Brown...
Hi friends,
You know me, make a short story long...
I haven't been posting much lately as I have been super busy at work and very stressed...
One stressor was my 4 month CT (which got pushed out to 5 months) on Nov 20.
I always leave with a CD of the file, which I have to ask them for. This time Hans the CT tech asked me why I wanted it and I was joking with him that "hey it's movie night" and then later when he asked if I was really going to look at it over the holiday, I joked "well, how many times can you REALLY watch Charlie Brown Thanksgiving/Christmas?" Gallows humor always makes me feel braver...haha
So as he's handing me my CD on the way out, he says with his nice smile "Don't look at this over Thanksgiving" which of course started freaking me out and I told him that. So he says, "oh no, no, its just like when you get your movies from the dentist and then you wonder why you're watching that" (ugh, I'd NEVER want to see something as gross as that, but that's another story!)
My onc had told me to call his office the next day and remind him to call me with the results, but on the way home I was real quiet and I told my hubby I was nervous about the scan and that Hans had told me not to look at it. So now we're both even more nervous than usual!
The answering machine is blinking when we get home..."hello this is Dr A's office and Dr A wanted me to call and let you know we got your CT report and everything is...."
"FINE!"
Happy Thanksgiving....
I think I'll listen to that message again for the 213th time!
Much love and gratitude to all for your support.
Chris

Whoa, good thing your onc knows how important it is to not let us stew over these tests! I'm sure the tech meant well, but what a way to create suspense. So glad to hear the good news

Question
Why do you ask for a CD? Does your doctor ever need them? I never thought of that, but I'm new at this. This is my first post . . .

Great news Chrissy I'm really pleased for you and can imagine your relief on listening to that message!
I suppose we all tend to jump to conclusions to fast and imagine we see/hear more into what is a throw away remark.
Have a good '07!

I always ask for a CD so that I can have it in my possession - I do take it to my consulting specialist at USCF and it's easier to transport than the films. They are cheap to produce, so the holpital is OK with giving me my very own copy. That said, I ALSO have all my films but that's very hush hush because you're not supposed to have them. They do have a way of disappearing, getting misfiled etc. and this way at least I know where they are!
Maybe I'm just a little bit of a control freak! But I think of it as nobody is as interested in them being locatable than I am!
