I am post menopausal and started having severe cramps Thurs. morning and thought I was having an apendicitis attack. Later in the day, spotting started and went to the doc. thought for sure it was an Ovarian cyst. NOT.
they started me on pain pills to get through the weekend, thank goodness. I don't know what i would be like without them.
Went in for sonogram and I have thickening of the lining of the uterus. See gyn, tomorrow morning to have consult and possibility of biopsy. I didn't ask how thick, should have, little worried here. I have been looking up this topic all weekend and of course you can find anything on the net and it is not always the same. I have ruled out Ovarian and Cervical cancer, but uterine and endometrial are a possibility. Then again it could be just some stupid stress related incident. Will be glad when tomorrow is over. However I know if biopsy, I probably won't know anyting for a week or so.
will keep you updated and if anyone else has had this experience I would love to know what your symptoms were and what you had to go through. Thank you, Take Care all. K

Dear Kristen
I am not sure about this but interested.I have just had my ct/bone scan done and all clear except for bilateral rounded structures thought to be ovarian follicles. I am not sure if this means a cyst, or normal ovarian function or early ovarian cancer . I have no other symptoms but know this can be symptomless. I will see my surgeon tomorrow and discuss it.The wait is hard.
I wonder if anyone else has had symtoms like these.
love

I thought the thickening of the uterus was from the tamoxifen. Ask your ob/gyn.

I had vaginal sonograms every six months to keep an eye out for thickening because of the Tamoxifen. I did not respond to the Tamoxifen (or did not respond well - don't know)- had my period all the time. I don't know your history. Are you post-menopausal naturally? Are you on Tamoxifen? I hope this was just one of those little annoying bumps and everything comes back fine. Best to get the biopsy just to be sure. It is a little uncomfortable and you will need tylenol and a pad for a day or two, (or something better if you have it - love those pain killers!) but it really isn't bad. Good luck and God bless. I'm praying to hear B9! Maryann

I have nothing. I have absolutley nothing wrong with me. I am not on Tamoxifen. They scare the hell out of you and it's nothing. So then why the biopsy? Money. I just got my period back is what they told me and the pain is from not having one for 16 months. That's it.
First they tell you this isn't normal at this time in your life and it could be this, this or this and hell, it's just a period, the most painful one I can remember. Sorry for the scare, it scared the hell out of me. I am done. No more dumb doctors, no more dumb genetisits no more tumor markers no more mamograms, no more visits. I have had it. They know nothing and I am sick of paying for stupid tests. They say I will know something is wrong with me and I don't. It's just a period. So no more anquish of putting myself through this any more. I am going to live my life as a happy healthy normal person who never goes to the doctor. They live forever those people and I am joining them. Thank you for all your support over the last 18 months. I have enjoyed meeting all of you and I wish you all the best in health and happiness. Take Care. K

Kristen - I know you are angry and frustrated right now, but I hope you will change your mind in the near future. Take a doctor break for a week or two. It is better to expect the worse and pray for the best. You got the BEST! Thank God for miricles. But now you need to know if you are truly post-menopausal (blood test) and what to do about it. I don't know your history, but you are HERE so you must be HER2. That means your cancer feeds on estrogen. If you have your period, your body is making estrogen. I get Lupron shots every three months to put me in "chemopause" and take Femara. This is something that you should definetly discuss with your onc. As much as we would all love to live like "normal" people, a simple ear infection with a persistant cough turned out to be a relapse five years out for me. I wish you only the best. Take a deep breath and please see your onc. Maryann

Does HER2 feed on estrogen? I guess I missed that part since most of us are ER/PR negative, I thought we didn't have to worry---much---about estrogen.

Kristen,
I hope you are still reading this board - the difficulty you are having could very well be just a uterine polyp, that can be found and removed during a relatively easy D&C - please continue with follow ups. A uterine biopsy is even easier than a D&C - they are done in the office, at least my 2 were, and you pop a couple tylenol afterwards and that's it; this procedure alone might pick up the polyp - don't know if it can actually be removed during just the office biopsy but at least it'd give you an answer. I know it's frustrating and I wish you well.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's just been a bad week and a doctor break is not such a bad thing. I got my biopsy report back and pap and all clear, GREAT, I had them redo the FSH test and now I am back up there with postmenopause. Go figure??? Take Care all, k
