Thanks Lani

Lani,

I want to thank you for your posting regarding reconstitution of Herceptin. I have been experiencing severe and I do mean severe pain since beginning Herceptin. Since I only get Herceptin I knew that was what was causing the pain. I had tried every week and every three week infusions seeing if the pain would decrease -- it didn't. I was in such pain that I was just about ready to tell the oncologist that I wanted to go off Herceptin. Your posting pointing out that you could have the Herceptin reconstitued with saline water instead of benzyl alcohol caught my attention. I asked to have my last infusion of Herceptin reconstituted with saline water which my oncologist agreed to. What a difference!! Now I can finish my year of Herceptin without having to deal with the severe muscle/bone/joint pain. Thank you so much.

Hi Kate,

so have you found you no longer have joint pain with Herceptin reconstituted with saline? Did it just go away in a few days?

Anna,

Yes, my joint/muscle/bone pain went away in a few days after having the Herceptin reconstituted with saline water instead of benzyl alcohol. I don't quite understand it, but it works. Now I know I can finish my year of Herceptin.
