Six Month Check Up AND Surprise Bone Scan Today
Wow........what a day. I went for my 6 month check up today and ended up having a bone scan also. He asked the typical "any new changes to report" and I did mention my left thigh. I told him that I DIDN'T WANT A BONE SCAN as I reasoned it out with myself and am sure it is not a bone cancer!!! He listened to my rationalizations and said he did agree that it didn't sound like a bone cancer in that I had no pain when I ran or powerwalked. BUT, he didn't agree that a bone scan should not be done. So, I had my first bone scan today. Thankfully, all fell into place and we were able to get in TODAY for the bone scan. They just happened to have room for one more bone scan today (like that wasn't meant to be ) so Mary Jo got the appointment. We travel about 1 hour and 15 minutes from home for these appointments and seeing how me and my husband have vacation right now it couldn't have worked out more perfectly. So...............................................h opefully tomorrow I will know the results. I was told that it would be read yet today. Of course, me being me, I tried reading the bone scan myself and didn't see any "light ups" in either thigh area. As a matter of fact I didn't see any "goofy" light ups anywhere. BUT for that matter I'm not sure if "light ups" is what I'm looking for.
So, time will tell and what is meant to be will be. I'm rootin' on it NOT BEING MEANT TO BE.
Oh, one more thing - this new onc. did a follow up MUGA (I had it in Sept but got results today) wanting to see how well my heart recovered from the A/C and years worth of herceptin. Before chemo ever started my ECHO was 68 - 4 months into herceptin my MUGA was 50 something (don't remember exactly) and now 1 year after herceptin was a healthy 62.
I'll keep you posted.
Mary Jo

Hi Mary Jo
Here hopn that scan is negative. Sounds from your professional opinion it is. :-) You might want to ask for a copy of it. I did and they gave me one in color on photo paper. It is really nice. I did have a rib light up. But that was because I had fallen in to the pool the day before--hitting right on that rib. Make sure you give thought to anything such as that they may have caused your leg to ache.
Hugs,

Waiting to hear your news (good news prayed for) and the relief it will bring! We're good at "playing like" radiologist and oncs, aren't we. I always try to figure out the test result before they tell me. How in the world would I think I could do that. But it eases my mind anyway by keeping it busy. Holiday cheer to you!
