No taxotere, no tykerb for brain mets

My doctor said that I am not a good candidate for lapitinib because previously I have never taken taxotere for treatment of my breast CA in 2005. I read about lapitinib and i am interested to take it for treating my brain mets now. Just want to check from all ladies out here wether it is true. I am confused.

I have never taken Taxetere either, was still rec by Dr. Pegram at UCLA that I take the Lapitinib.

I do not believe the previous usage of taxetere is in any way a requirement to being prescribed Lapitinib. I was led to believe the only issue was whether there had been progression while on Herceptin.

You may want to get another opinion on this.

I also am of the opinion that taking Taxotere has nothing to do with your eligibility for Tykerb..sherryg683

No taxotere, no tykerb for brain mets(II)

My doctor clarified that I am not eligible for lapitinib because I didnt fit the criteria for lapitinib clinical trial being held at her institution, National Singapore Univ. And further more I am still on Dilantin to control the seizure. I should be ok for tykerb off trial.
Thank you ladies.
