Smile Her2 Gene / Stage 4

THIS IS A LINK FOR UPDATED NEWS ABOUT HER2 GENE AND A MORE UPDATED STUDY TO COME IN THE FUTURE; CLICK ON THIS LINK:
New Cellular Flaw Found In Some Virulent Breast Cancers ; HOPEFULLY IN THE NEAR FUTURE THE TREATMENTS WILL BE DESIGNED PER INDIVIDUAL BASED ON THE
PATHOLOGY REPORTS; I KNOW MY REPORT ONLY WENT AS FAR TO SAY THAT I WAS HER2 ++++ WITH A POOR PROGNOSIS AND THAT A " FISH" TEST WAS NOT NEEDED;

ALSO I WANTED TO KNOW SINCE I AM NEW TO THIS GROUP IF THEY ARE ANY PERSONS WHO ARE STAGE 4 BREAST CANCER BEING TREATED WITH HERCEPTIN AND NAVELBINE ? I WAS SWITCHED TO THE REGEMENT BACK IN JUNE 05 AFTER A REOCCURRENCE WHICH HAPPEND ONLY 3 MONTHS INTO HERCEPTIN ALONE. PRIOR TO THAT I WAS ON 4 MONTHS OF HERCEPTIN, TAXOL AND CARBOPLATIN; MY ONC WAS SURPRISED AT HOW QUICKLY I HAD THE REOCCURENCE SINCE MY ORIGINAL MASS RESPONED SO QUCIK TO THE REGIMENT.

WILL CHECK BACK SOON.

THANKS,

DEBBIE S.

Hi Debbie

Where were your mets located? I was diagnosed with liver mets July, 04, and had Taxol/Herceptin. Unfortunately it looks as if it is off again, so I am now about to try Taxol/Herceptin/Carboplatin. How long were you on it for?

Lisa

Red face

Lisa, Hello; When I was first diagnoised the cancer had spread to my liver. It was one small spot at that location. So I began chemo in 11/04; that is when I started the herceptin / taxol / carboplatin regiment; I did that until the end of Feb 05; Once I had a clear Pet Scan my onc. had me continue on herceptin only every 3 weeks. By May I could feel another mass on my breast right above the original mass; had another pet scan at the end of May which confirmed I had a reoccurence; My onc wanted me to start the regiment again but I did not want that same regiment of chemo. So she started me on Navelbiene with herceptin every other week. I stayed on this regiment through Nov. .. I had a clear Pet scan in Nov. so I now do the regiment every 3 weeks. Will have another scan in Mar.

Thanks and God Bless,

Debbie

Debbie, I was diagnosed with liver and bone mets in Feb 04. My liver was shutting down, my skin was jaundiced, even my eyes were yellow. My liver was so covered in tumors, you could barely see it on the ct scan.

I went on Herceptin, Navelbine and Xeloda and it was a miracle combination for me. It also was fairly easy to tolerate. Within 2 months my liver functions were normal.

Bone mets were NED in Aug 04, Liver was NED Mar 05, and has continued NED with just Herceptin as maintenance.

Hope you have similar good results with Navelbine.

Herceptin and Navelbine have been a wonderful combination for me. I was diagnosed one year ago with livermets. I am now NED. Feeling very well. No sideeffects. Had a port operated in - its been great. Before that I had some pain in my arms some days after treatment.

best of luck!!
