American Cancer Society $200.00 Gas Card
Hi Ladies,
I forgot to mention this. I contacted the American Cancer Society, told them I was participating in a clinical trial at Mayo that would require me to make 11 trips to Rochester (about 4.5 hours from my home) There are hotel stays involved also, since most of my appointments start at 7:30am. I had to fill out a form (and I am not low income) and they sent me a $200.00 Gas Visa card. I can also apply for another one.
This has been helpful. If I add up the hotel and gas costs over the 30 month period with the 11 visits the cost for this trial is about $2000.00. So every little bit helps.

Re: American Cancer Society $200.00 Gas Card
My insurance covered the cost of the trips. You can check and see if they will cover the cost of travel to a phase I trial.
AMC will cover some gas or help with travel to regular appointments too, at least they used to!

Re: American Cancer Society $200.00 Gas Card
Okay...
I consider myself to be of average intelligence...
And I'm usually fairly tech savvy...
But I honestly could not find anything on the ACS website about this.
I even tried the link that 'lizbeth posted.
What am I doing wrong?
Denise

Re: American Cancer Society $200.00 Gas Card
Try calling the 800-227-2345 number. This might be something that is offered, but not promoted.
I know that money might be tight because I've been trying to hustle up donations for the ACS Relay for Life and I feel like I'm extracting teeth with a string and a doorknob. They might only offer it to patients when the have funds in the budget.
But there is a rides program:
http://www.cancer.org/treatment/supp...ad-to-recovery
And a lodging program:

Re: American Cancer Society $200.00 Gas Card
Denise, I called the American Cancer Society and talked to them. I just called the general number. They then sent me a form to fill out. I filled it out and recieved a $200.00 gas gift card a few weeks later. There was also a note enclosed saying I could apply for another one.
