***Calling all Stage 1, node neg, ER+/PR-, HER2+ girls***
I am trying to help someone w/ this pathology and was wondering if you could tell me your dx as well as your treatment? I know there is info on this, but when I do a search, I come up w/ EVERYTHING. Thank you.

Hi Rhonda,
I was diagnosed with: stage one, node negative, er+ 95% and pr+10%, 1.3cm tumor and Her2+++. I did 4 dose dense AC and then 4 dose dense T (taxol), 34 rads (5 were a boost), one year of Herceptin, started 2 weeks after my last Taxol and Aromasin for 5 years and I will have my ovaries removed in July. Oh, I had a lumpectomy.
Hope this helps.

Hello Rhonda,
I was stage 1, 1.2 cm, node negative, ER/PR neg. HER2 +++ strong.
I had ACx4 and 33 rads. I finished treatment 12/23/04, but chemo was finished end of September.
When I found out they would probably approve herceptin for early stage BC in November, I was ready to jump on the wagon. My oncologist had me tested for HER2/neu by FISH and It came back plus, so I was ready to start herceptin, 13 months after chemo.
Hope this is helpful! BTW... I had a lumpectomy! Clean margins!

Rhonda,
I was dx stage 1, node neg., 1.7 cm tumor, grade 3, ER + 75%, PR -, HER2 +++.
I had lumpectomy first, 4 AC, 12 weekly Taxol with Herceptin and Herceptin continued for 1 year. No radiation because I later opted for bi-lateral masectomy, otherwise I would have had rads too. I also had my ovaries out because I was premenopausal and wanted to be able to take Aromtase Inhibitor.
I just had to do everything I could to prevent going through this again.
Best wishes to your friend.

Hi Rhonda,
Dx @ 49 yrs. old, 11/04, Stage I, Grade III/3, 8mm tumour, ER/PR-/HER2+++, node negative, simple mastectomy 11/04, started chemo 2/05, 4 rounds Epirubicin & Cyclophosphamide (EC) every 3 weeks, started Herceptin Aug/05 every 3 weeks for a year.
I lurked about on the site for a few months before joining; was reluctant as I felt like such a wimp compared to some of the incredibly brave and courageous women here. You are truly warriors and are an amazing source of information and strength.
Thank you!
P.S. Hi, I just noted you were looking for info on dx with ER+ which I'm not - sorry!

Rhonda,
Thanks for showing interest in us Stage 1's. At times I get the feeling Stage 1 is not considered a genuine 'cancer experience'.
I am Stage 1, .3cm IDC (extensive DCIS), Er+ (weakly)/PR-, Grade 2, node neg via SNL, Her+++, post bi. mastectomy. Rec. tx. 6 rounds Taxol/Herceptin; I only got through 3 rounds Taxol due to severe neuropathy. Will continue with one year Herceptin.
Two years prior to this ocurrance I was Stage 0; lumpectomy with 33 rads.
edit: I'm 52, Taxol pushed me finally into menopause. All the best to your friend and I'm glad to see you posting.

Hi Rhonda,
I was diagnosed at age 49 in Feb 2004.
Stage 1 .4mm tumor, weak er+, pr indeterminate, her2+++,
grade 3 . Sentinel node negative. I had a lumpectomy in April 2004, 4 rounds of AC. Radiation finished in Oct. 2004.
I started herceptin in Nov. 2005. I also had my ovaries out due to ovarian cysts in Dec. 2004. So far herceptin has been ok.

Hi Rhonda --
I was first dx in '98 -- stage 1, ER+ PR+ but didn't know HEr2 status then. I had a lumpectomy with radiation. I recurred in May '05, did a mast with reconstruction (still node negative) although I had multi-centric IDC. The path was the same as the first -- but also HER2+. My sentinel node biopsy was negative. I did 4 taxol treatments and then started Herceptin every 3 weeks. I also did a complete hysterectomy and am now on Arimedex.
Best wishes for your friend!
Jill

Taxol
Are there any Stage 1 her2 +++, node negative women out there who have done lumpectomy, A/C, herceptin and radiation, but NOT TAXOL? Would appreciate to hear your experience on such a regimen.
Thanks, Jamie

Jamie,
My onc. said I really did not have to do taxol, but left the decision up to me. After a little research I decided the benefits of taxol and herceptin together were worth it. I figured what the heck-I had already done the AC might as well go all the way. My onc. did believe it was more than I needed, but I'am satisfied with the decision I made.
Best wishes
Michelle

There are 2 tests to see if you have the HER2 protein--ICH and the F.I.S.H. the F.I.S.H. is the more accurate of the two. The ICH is rated 1+,2+. and 3+ depending on the amount of staining and how heavily your biops. tissue was stained. It is looked at by human eyes. My ICH test was 3+.
The F.I.S.H. is the more accurate one, but doctors say it is very expensive. Since the ICH can have a 2% false positive reading, I demanded the FISH test which also came out positive. I did not want to take the Herceptin unless I knew it could help me for sure. Kat in the delta
