Smile Craniotomy pathology report

Hi everyone! Well, I feel reborn. I had my post-op check up today and my pathology report of the 1cm lesion came back negative for cancer cells. The diagnosis is radiation necrosis which can look like recurrent disease on an MRI. My surgeon said that it could appear again but they will watch it and know more for sure what it is . I will just continue to be frequently monitored. This has certainly been a tough three weeks and I appreciate the fact that I had this forum to speak my thoughts. I am posting this information, because it is important for everyone to know that there are always other possibilites than what you first learn in a diagnosis.
Best wishes and have a good weekend.

Barbara, GREAT NEWS! Thanks for sharing this with us, it really does encourage all to stay on top things.

In your reply to Robin's post about late Hreceptin for early stage, you mentioned that
for your treatment of mets, "...Two doses of Herceptin put my tumor markers in the the normal range and they have remained normal with no other chemo..."

Are you still on Herceptin?

Smile To Lolly

Yes, Lolly. I have been on Herceptin since July 04 and will continue on it as long as it works, or until something else comes along.
Best wishes,
Barbara H.

Barbara,
yep! I just knew it....necrosis and NO further cancer cells.

Easy for me to say, right? But I did hope with a certain certainty that this would be the case! Yea!!!

hugs,
pattyz

Great news! Now you can breathe again and enjoy the holidays. This same thing happened to me twice. The necrosis where I had the gamma knife keeps increasing but the brain PET showed I am clear. I go again on Tuesday for my 8 week monitoring.
