British actress in lapatinib trial

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...ncer-drug.html

Am stunned that would refer to Lapatanib as being "potentially dangerous" when her diagnosis was grim enough on its own...
Maybe its just the way this British paper does things? Hype anyone?

FYI

I'm thinkin' hype, but I did enjoy the article. Let's hope she does well and is an advocate for all Her2s out there.

Re: British actress in lapatinib trial

Nice article, and like all of us I wish Rebekah every good wish for the future.

I quickly skimmed the article and saw this which was interesting, and may offer hope to those undergoing chemo who want to retain their fertility. I read about it being trialled a while ago.

"Before each dose of chemotherapy, she was injected with a drug called Zoladex to shut down her ovaries - cancer treatment targets fast-growing cells, which means it would affect the ovaries, too."

Re: British actress in lapatinib trial

Of particular interest to me,considering the current controversy over health care reform here in the U.S. , was the part about "rules" being changed so that women with a suspected diagnosis of BC must be seen within 2 weeks..gotta wonder how long folks with no connections were waiting to be seen??
