Left Versus Right Hand & Breast Cancer

There was an interesting story on the Chicago news last night that found that left handed women, which is less than 7% of all women, are more prone to developing breast cancer....they feel it might have to do with estrogen leveld during the pregnancy....I found this interesting as I am left handed...just wondering how many lefties are in this group?
Hugs

My mother was left-handed and had breast cancer at 82 years of age. I'm right-handed and I had breast cancer at 58 years of age.

I am left handed, and it was one of the questions my surgeon had me fill out on his questionnaire... I have two girls, one left handed and one right handed...

Im right handed, first diagnosed at age 42. My mother is a leftie, age 72, and as healthy as a horse! Her sister(my aunt) died of BC at age 70, twenty years after original diagnosis, also right handed.

My mom, diagnosed in Spring 1999, Left handed, postmetapose, ER+/PR- Her2+. No history of bc in the family. I wonder how many left handers are ER+ too, since they are claming it is estrogen driven prenataly.

My mother and I are both right handed but lefties run in the family (of my 3 kids, 2 are lefties and one rightie). Of my mom's sisters who have bc - 2 lefties and one rightie.

Take care,

Becky
