I am 54 yrs old and was diagnosed with brain mets 19 months ago and currently they are gone and I am doing well.

In the past 19 months I have had a total of 16 brain met tumors treated successfully with 5 seperate stereotactic radiosurgeries. Three SRS, 9/02 - 5/03 - 12/03 and two CyberKnife treatments 3/5/04 and 3/8/04.

My other mets have been under control with no sign on scans during most of this time.

If your mom's other mets are under control, there is NO REASON to NOT treat her brain mets.

There are severeal other treatment options, other than Whole Brain Radiotherapy. Fractionated Stererotactic Radiosurgery, Gamma Knife, Stererotactic Radiosurgery and the newer CyberKnife. You can Google any of these procedures to find out more.

Do not let what you read online freak you out as it did me...as I am proof that the old dire prognosis is not true anymore, necessarily.

The east coast is a hot bed of treatment options, you shouldn't have trouble finding someone to treat your mom, all you have to do is insist.

Sincerest best wishes,
pattyz
