Hospital

Well, here I sit in the hospital, been here since Thursday night. My temp kept climbing & my wbc's were virtually non existant. This was 9 days after Navalbine. Believe me, I am not a happy camper. I've had cultures twice, and I just want to go home.

The hospital isn't the best place to be even when you're sick.

Oh Dede

I'm so sorry you became so ill. At least they are looking for the bug that got you down and then they can target the perfect antibiotic to get you back on the road to recovery. It's hard to keep your chin up when you feel lousy. And the hospital is the best place to be when you're sick but its not too easy to get any rest. I will be thinking about you.

Kind regards

Becky

Dede: I know how you feel about hospitals. I always want to be home in my own bed and a quiet room. Fortunately, I have not had to be in the hospital since my surgery 5 years ago. I have to be honest I don't make a good patient! I sure hope your stay will soon end but you do need the medication to get better. Wishing you much healing and home soon. Sending you a big hug. Sandy

Right now, they are leaning towards the possibility of an infection in my port, which means new port-again. This will make my 3rd. I should know for sure tomorrow AM....

Darn those ports, both a blessing and sometimes a curse

Dede, Sorry to hear that you're in the hospital. That's the last place any of us want to be. Just try and remember you are at the right place and if it's an infection with the port you can always get another one in. Best of luck to you.

DeDee,

Just wanted to say I am sorry you are in the hospital. I had to go to the ER for a fever last week, but my WBC were ok... They did send me home with Cipro (Antibiotic) and I also took Tylenol and I was feeling better that evening. I hope they get to the bottom of is soon for you. I like you don't care for being in the Hospital at all. In the ER while my fever was raging, and they were screwing around having to draw blood for the second time because the first sample came back "tainted" I got angry and kept going between chills and sweats...I threw my wig off and tossed it on my husbands lap....The reaction of the nurses and Doc that came in after that was priceless..They had no idea what to say, and were pretty much speechless with my dramatic change in attitude and appearance. I hope you get out of there soon. As a good friend of mine who is a nurse reminded my recently, just remember you are the boss (the patient) you have rights to refuse things, demand things etc....exercise your rights to at least be as comfortable as possible during your stay.

Wishing you well

So sorry Dede that you are in the hospital. I hope they get to the bottom of things and get you out of there as soon as is safe for your health. Hang in there. I know how frustrating this can be. After my last chemo dose I ended up there too with a low wbc. Get better soon.

I'm home!

I was in the hospital for 5 days. I went home on IV antibiotics, and will be off tomorrow. The infection in my port probably wasn't, but the Vancomycin seemed to help. My last dose is tonight.

I am home, though!!! I saw my onc last Tues, & stopped chemo til after the first of the year, when I will have scans, again. Maybe I'm in remission.....If not, then the fight will go on.

So glad you are home again, Dede, and will add my prayers that you will not have to be in the hospital again for a long, long time! Have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas, and hope the new year is the best! Hugs, Tricia
