Hey women, it seems outrageous, but we the taxpayers don't have access to the results of federally-funded research. Now a movement is afoot to have all peer-reviewed journal articles accessibly on the NIH web site, esp. government funded ones. Its already passed in the House of Representatives and just needs to pass in the Senate. Here's a link to a site where you can send a letter:

http://www.publicknowledge.org/take-...ccess-sen.html

Here's another site with more background on the issue:
http://www.taxpayeraccess.org/you.html

This isn't a very controversial issues as the National Academy of Sciences and leaders at NIH have even endorsed the proposal. But, I can tell you after living here in Washington, DC for 15 years, that even the most common sense legislation won't make it unless we all make a stink about it. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL YOUR BREAST CANCER BUDDIES!
