Desison are hard to make sometimes

Hi all i seem to be 1/2 stuck although my glass is 1/2 full not empty.

I am going ahead on 23 Feb to start my VMAT radiation and i can't wait to DESTROY these little suckers!!!! I think this is the same course of treatment that Brenda H has taken.

My problem is i saw my onc and came away feeling deflated i can see his point but i don't agree. Any way he says no treatment for me yet, just to have the radiation and he will see me in three months. I was told that i don't have enough cancer for T-DM1 (funny really) it was there idea. I was also told that her2 goes to the Brain and this was not treated so i could have had these since day one.

Also told that it is very hard to treat and there is no evidence of any major drug crossing the blood brain barrier. I did talk about what was coming through in trials and the reply was not to give something if the rest of the body does not need treating. What do you guys think?

I'm still on dexamethesone and struggle with it but i no I have to have something. Can't wait until 23 Feb wish me luck.

Jacqui

Re: Desison are hard to make sometimes

Hi Kiwigirl,
I think I am in the same boat as you. I've got the one brain met and they've done a boatload of scans and find nothing else. Getting a 2nd Gamma Knife treatment on Mar 1st and then meet with the Oncologist on Mar 8th. I will have more information to share then but she was thinking of no treatment or Tykerb/Xeloda. I am going to get a 2nd opinion after we meet.

Re: Desison are hard to make sometimes

Let me know how you go. Maybe we do rely on taking to much of a regime with drugs? Are you still on steroids?

Re: Desison are hard to make sometimes

Certainly I wish you luck. I thought Tykerb and Xeloda were thought to cross the blood brain barrier. Anyway it may be good to have a break from chemo given you are doing something constructive about those pesky (as courtney would say) mets.
