My afternoon at the relay for life
Hello Friends,
I made stopped by our local Relay for Life yesterday. I hadn’t planned on it, I wasn’t on any roster or walking schedule, nor had I collected any donations. I know, shame on me!
But I started walking even though it was about 90 degrees outside and I am a big fat wimp. The first lap I walked around the track thinking about all the friends lost to this dreadful disease. I cried for them. I cried for me. I cried as I walked past the luminaria, reading each name. Then I kept walking, for the fight. For all of you who are so amazing and inspiring. There were posters along the fence to write memories or whatever. I used them to keep track of my laps – dedicating each until I couldn’t even remember my own name:
Joe and Christine
<st1:city w:st="[/IMG]<font" face="Times New Roman">Sandy</st1:city>
Thora a dear friend of mine
Sherry another dear friend
Lisa Love & light
Her2 Angels
Andi – in <st1:state w:st="on"><st1>Iowa and in </st1>Boca</st1:state>
Irene
Steph
Sheila
Joy – Your lap was longer because I had to get something to eat. I knew you wouldn’t mind
Brenda – Since a baked potato isn’t finger food, I was still eating on your lap
Flori – OK, OK, it was a large potato!
Lolly
Kim in CT and CA
Esther – I had to take a break during your lap. You know, sometimes we need a break
The HER2 brainiacs (you know who they are!)
Julirene
All the TYGERS and DIVAS
Marie, Mel, Al, Tom, John (mine!), and all those who fight beside those they love
ALL THE HER2 WARRIORS
One for HOPE
One for CURE
<o>
I admit, I walked one for myself, too. Then I wrote about 50 more names on a "sun disk" (the daylight version of a luminari, I guess).
Just wanted you to know I was thinking about all of you! And that I got sunburned on the back of my legs but slept like a rock.
<o>Love
Chris</o></o>

Chris, did you get your t-shirt?! My friend and I have been walking a lap or two together since 2001, but that's all we're able to manage since one or the other of us is always in treatment...
Wow, you did a wonderful thing and I salute you

Amazing Chrisy
Hi Chrisy,
I am in awe of you being able to do this! In this California weather I am such a wimp, I stay in the air conditioning all day and go swimming at the gym at sundown when it's cool.
BUT - to top it off, it was such an emotional thing to do - I can't imagine!
So, please accept my deeply reverent awestruck thanks for doing this for all of us. You are my hero!

You Are Such A Good Girl!!!
Hello Friend, so happy to hear your fantastic day. I always enjoy your stories so, especially about the walk. I was supposed to go on a walk in April (Boston), hubby was too sick & I did not have the heart to go when he was in bed ill. Our Oncologist was the first person to pledge!! Gotta love a doctor like that, he even carried a signed check around with him all day!!
Well try try again. In October I will be doing our walk here in Little Rhody at Roger Williams Park. Guess who is getting another check?? You got it! 'Lil Ole Me!!
I will walk wearing a "Men Get Breast Cancer Too" shirt and I may have his name on the back.
Anytime we can give back I sieze the moment. People sometimes think you have to be a large contributor. Breast Cancer strides comes 'STEP BY STEP'!!
I shall keep you in our continued prayers!! Big Hugs going out to ya!!
Waiting For A Miracle...>>Believe51

I'm So glad you ate the big potato
CHRISY-YOU ARE AMAZING! To think of us that way and focus on us that way is so touching and powerful (I get results today so your timing is perfect cause i'm jacked up). That had to be one of the best posts ever. You made me laugh and cry at the same time which is very cathartic.
How are YOU doing with treatment and results and feeling good?
