Thumbs up New Treatment Train

My PET scan this week shows 3 new nodes involved in the neck area making a total of 5. Xeloda failed to stop the progression so we hopped on board a new treatment train.
Continue Herceptin every 3 wks
Abraxine (again) every week for 3 wks; off 1 wk - repeat cycle
Avastin every other week (new)

I was greatly encouraged by postings on this site and the encouraging comments and reference articles to my last post. I was more encouraged when my oncologist said that if this combination doesn't work there are others to try...I needed to know he wasn't ready to give up on me yet.

Good luck with the new treatment regiment and your doctor better never give up. We need their hope too.

Thumbs up

Hi Carolyn -

Just wanted you to know that a friend of mine here with stubborn nodes did the Abraxane and Avastin combo. Only problem was her climbing blood pressure, but now that she is NED!!! and off the drugs, that issue is resolving.
When she began the Avastin, she had to quit the Herceptin.

She has had 4 months of NED so far after fighting those nodes for years.
So, have at it and keep us posted.

there are lots of options

and NED is one of them. I'm hoping that the new combo takes care of business and spares you a lot of side effects. Let us know how you are doing.
