Red face Laparoscopy to remove Ovarian mass on Feb 14th

Dear Friends,
I am having (hopefully) a unilateral ovary removal via laparoscopy on Valentines day (arent I lucky!).
Hopefully, there will be no surprizes and it will be quick and easy. I do have a Gyn/Onc on standby just in case. My Gyn hesistates to remove my other ovary and or do a full hyst but depending on what she finds, this may ne necessary.
Am waiting to hear from the compression garment company as to whther or not they can get two lymphadema bracelets to me ASAP. I may just write on myself w surgical marker ..."NO IV BP on EITHER ARM"...tee hee ( still have my port)
I am looking forward to that overnight stay to rest as my dogs love me TOO much and insisit on sleeping next to me!

Hi Marcia;
Well, just as long as you get some chocolate by the end of the day! But seriously, writing on your arms with an indelible marker prior to surgery is NOT a bad idea, I've actually done that and the nurses thought it was a great idea, no mistakes that way. Go ahead and let the prep nurses do it for you, it serves to "get them on board" so to speak, and you will be able to relax as you go into surgery. If you seem to get any strange looks at this request, just keep in mind that the patient is always right and it's your call.
My daughter had a unilateral laproscopic ovarian ablation plus removal of her uterus (there must be a short version!) and did fine; she had no complications and went home the next day. Took 3 weeks off from work but she felt she could have gone back by the second week. Good luck with your procedure, let us know how it goes and don't forget to reward yourself with chocolate!

Cool

Hi Lolly!
I am doing too much around the house and am having some bleeding issues so I'll be brief...
Frozen section showed no malignancy!!!!!!!! YAHHHHOOOIIEE!!The right ovary was removed due to size and a cyst on the left ovary was removed. Spent the night in hospital (ended up walking all night due to bladder spasms...ugh!)
Thank you sooooo very much for caring. I have no family nearby and am really missing my Mom today. Please forgive the pity party, I have been indulging too often lately!

Marcia, I am glad you got that out of the way and behind you. The best news was no malignancy. What a relief that must of been. I have to have an ooph soon too and I am worried about what they will find...hope I get the news you did.

It sounds like you better go easy on yourself for a while and quit doing so much around the house. Take advantage of this time and relax a little. Please permit yourself a pity party now and then...your certainly entitled to it. Believe me...we all understand all to well. You take care of yourself...and hope your feeling 100% soon. Sending you warn healing thoughts and prayers.

Very glad you got such GOOD news!
Watch the lifting and vacuuming. The dog hair can be someone else's job for a few days, eh?

All these "extra" surgeries are always a little nerve racking and I think you can be calm now!

Hey Skeetur,Chelee and Steph !
Just been hanging around myhouse and enjoying some springlike weather we are having. Had to see my Gyn on Monday for the bleeding ..and yup, she said "GO REST!" And so I have(for the most part). Still too nervous to drive buthopefully I will be OK tomorrow to take my daughter forahaircut.
Havent noticed any more flashes than normal...thats a GREAT thing! Next appt. is the 26th and hopefully my final path will be fine!
Thanks again for caring, no family (other than a "distant" husband and my darling daughter) here and only one REAL friend make for some lonely days. I envy those of you with nearby friends and family!

Be well,all!
Marcia

Hi Marcia:

Wish I could live closer to you. I know how lonely it can be without your friends nearby. I moved to Lumberton a few years ago, and I was very lonely. I am glad to hear that you are doing better. I hope you continue to improve, and you get good reports. You hang in there.

Linda

Hey Ms.Linda!
I just noticed something...look at our diagnosis and surgery time frame...must have been something "in the air" here in ole' Mississippi back in Dec.04???

Thanks for being so concerned...

Saw my Gyn yesterday and final path was b9...also saw photos of both cysts...MAN were they UGLY! LOL
Back to work on the 5th and not sure how I will manage 6 hours on my feet??!!..
Due for my scans again,I think I will just have them done here and not go to Houston this go round.

Linda..Hope you are recovering from your procedure and taking good care of you.

Hugs,Marcia
