Question Bone Scan

Hello Everyone !

Finished up my Rads on Tuesday of this week. Thank goodness...happy to be done with my everyday trip to the cancer center. HOWEVER, I have had pain in my ribs and back since last Saturday. Mentioned it to Rad Onc and she scheduled me an appt for a bone scan tomorrow. (I was helping my son Snowboard the day before the pain started, and picked him up from a fall) I am sooo torn about having this test done. My husband said last night, "Wouldn't you want to know if something is wrong?" THe honest answer is NO...hard for him to understand maybe, but I mentally feel good most days now...a bad result from a bone scan....well, that I am not sure I can deal with.

Any thoughts from my friends ???

Your pain is more likely a result of something you did such as helping your son with his snow board and picking him up then something serious. I know what you mean though about not being prepared to handle bad news. None of us are ever ready for that, think back to when you first heard you had breast cancer. However, it is better to be safe and find out sooner rather than later if it is something. I have had aches and pains every single day in different areas but they say if it lasts less than two weeks it is most likely nothing so you just have to think that way. I will be praying for no findings. Good luck and hang in there. We are here for you.

Question Could be from rads

Hi Susan and congrats on getting through the rads!

I think also this has something to do with picking up your son but the rads can also give you rib and breast pain for quite some time.
I know how you feel though as I'm having a bone scan tomorrow..
I'm praying the back pain I've had for a few weeks is actually just from Arimidex which I've been taking since Sept '06.
Like you I'm so scared of hearing it may have spread, but scared if it has of not doing something to prevent it spreading more.
(If that makes sense)
Anyway in your case I'm sure it's probably nothing and I hope in mine too.
I'll be wishing you benign results and please wish the same for me!!
Tricia

Susan,

It sounds like your pain may be from straining yourself. I know how anxious you are feeling. I was having constant back pain and had a bone scan scheduled. I was so nervous and even cried while having the scan. Everything was FINE, but the fear I felt was real. And guess what? My back isn't achey anymore! Yippee!!

Don't worry about feeling anxious about this pain. We GET IT!!

Hugs and Prayers,
Lexi

Smile Knowledge is Power

Dearest Susan,
I think it is so normal to be concerned with aches that prior to bc we would
not have reacted to. I hope and believe as time passes we get to 2 yrs then
5 yrs, etc. will relax, but we will always be on the alert to protect ourselves.
Knowledge is power and it definitely makes you feel a little bit more in control of your life.

So glad your bone scan was NED....
Wishing you the best,
Jean
