blood tests for research

FYI

when I took the blood test for the gene tests, the center ( City of Hope in CA) asked if I wanted to give another tube for research Of course, I said.

It's hard for researchers to get blood samples for research.

when I first met with my surgeon to discuss treatment options, the research people came and asked if I wanted to participate...I said sure! So I gave blood before surgery...a tissue sample from surgery went to research, and several times during chemo and herceptin a tube went off to research. I will continue to send blood for research any time they ask!!!

I did as well at University of Michigan but I was a candidate for this research based on strong family history of different cancers including breast.
