Hello everyone,
I thought of entitling this posting 'From Britain, where cash is king and the Queen's husband is merely the royal consort.'
Onc ok'd herceptin. Very tense meeting. Admitted that herceptin on its own would benefit me, but said I couldn't get. Is on HERA trial committee. Showed him JohnL's posting and mentioned a few things I had heard in UK chatroom regarding off-label use. Offered to pay hard cold cash for it and all of a sudden herceptin became instantly available. Rep from drug co that makes taxotere was observing him and wonder what she made of it.
Many women with early BC seem to have trouble even getting their hospitals to test their BC for HER2, which makes me really see red because I know that many UK hospitals don't provide herceptin for secondary BC, which I suspect they do by never informing patients of their HER2 status.
ARRRGGGHHH.
