Bone Loss: how much is normal?

I have a quick question that maybe you can help me with. I just had my annual chest x-ray and ALL is good. thank you. One comment that I don't understand is:
There is mild degeneration change of the spine. I have had a dex test and was osteopenia and I am taking Fosamax weekly this started about a year ago. Does this seem like this is getting worse or something that happens when you get cancer? I am 44 and if they were taking pictures of the chest are they talking about the thoracic region? Should I be doing anything more or asking any other questions? My surgeon told me everything was fine. So is this something NOT to worry about? I don't see her until March to review the mam and x-ray but I always get a copy for my records.
This might be a topic for the chat room?
Thank you in advance for your comments.
