NBC NEWS..1 week vs 3 adjuvant

Here's the link...it basically says that new reports today from the New England journal of medicine says that weekly does given in small amounts are more effective than every 3 weeks in adjuvant treatment...doesn't mention drugs....Guess I"m back on the weekly herceptin. I did it weekly for 2 years and just started the 3 week in January. Says study will surely change the current practice...link below..sherryg683

it appears to be the weekly taxane which seems to be the great difference, not the weekly herceptin as they did the study both in her2+ and her2-s--see the abstract I posted

I'm not very good at understanding the technical abstracts. Is this the posting from the New England journal of Medicine put out today? The news article talks about adjuvant chemo, done right after chemo treaments. Are taxanes used in adjuvant treatment? Isn't that the taxols, taxoteres, that line of drugs or am I confused? I would like to find the report directly from the New England journal of medicine released today but I haven't been sucessful. ..sherryg683

Sherry,

First, It is today's issue. Most importantly don't rely on anything you see/hear on the media, always discuss treatments with your oncologist.

There will certaintly be more on this subject early next month as the ASCO meeting will be underway.

Regards
Joe
