I think the actual spelling of this is sunitinib?
It is FDA approved for gastrointestinal stromal cancer and renal cell cancer, but is also in trials for other cancers including metastatic breast cancer.

I really know nothing about this drug, but perhaps it is a small molecule and may cross the blood-brain barrier which might be why your mother's oncologist is considering it.
