Re: they are starting to subdivide out subtypes of her2+ bc with better, worse progno

AS I UNDERSTAND IT:
Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded Samples (FFPE)
The fixation of human tissues with formalin, and their subsequent embedding in paraffin, has been a routine method of preserving surgical samples for many years. But these extensive resources are rarely used in microarray-based gene expression or chromosome alteration studies, because nucleic acids isolated from FFPE sources are typically degraded.

THAT SAID, THEY ARE CONSTANTLY TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO GET INFORMATION YOU PREVIOUSLY COULD ONLY GET FROM FRESH FROZEN SPECIMENS FROM FFPE SPECIMENS, SINCE THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE NUMEROUS (AND CHEAPER TO KEEP)
