Hi Jaykay,

My melanoma was diagnosed prior to my dx. I had a nasty looking mole removed from my upper arm at least 10 years prior to being diagnosed with BC. The really good news is that so far the melanoma has not reappeared. It was Clark's level 3 and the only thing done was a wide excision to remove it and get clean margins. I have also had squamous cell and basal cell cancers removed throughout the years. As a matter of fact, I wIll be having a few more removed soon. I too wonder if there is a connection between skin cancers and BC.

I'm glad yours was caught early and hope you have the same favorable outcome I had. i'm sure your post will give that final nudge to those out there putting off a visit to the dermatologist.

Dx: 11/23/05, Lumpectomy 12/12/05
Tumor 2.2 cm, Stage II, Grade 3, Sentinel Node biopsy negative
ER+ (30%) /PR+ (50%), HER2+++
AC X 4 dose dense, Taxol X 4 dose dense
Herceptin started with 2nd Taxol, given weekly until chemo done
then given every 3 weeks for one year ending on March 16, 2007
Radiation 30 treatments
Tamoxifen - 2 yrs (pre-menopausal)
May 2008 - Feb 2012 Femara
Aug 2008 - Feb 2012 Zometa every 6 months
March 2012 - Stop Femara, now Evista for bone strengthening
