Hi Esther, You said you only get ECHO's once per year. Are you on herceptin? Just curious. I wouldn't worry about having a ECHO at all if I was NOT on herceptin...thats my only concern is keeping track of my heart function.
Like you mentioned...I don't like having a bunch of tests either! I hate them...seems it all I do these days. But I DO want to be able to stay on herceptin...and the only way I will be comfortable with that is to know my ECHO's are still staying up there.

As far as if there is a guideline on ECHO'S and age related? I don't think so? But I can't say for sure? I am pretty sure regardless of age...the protocol for an ECHO is every 3 months IF your on Herceptin. That is what my oncologists told me...even thought she isn't following her own advice to me very well. lol

How about all us Southern CA women. Has it been HOT enough for you ladies yet! Its been COOKING here. Then add the humidity and its a killer. What a terrible time to have to put a wig on when I go out. There's a few of us here...I am surprised.

Chemo started 2-7-06 -- TCH - - Finished 6-12-06 Finished yr of wkly herceptin 3-19-07 3-15-07 Lt side prophylactic simple mastectomy. -- Ooph 4-05-07 9-21-09 PET/CT "Recurrence" to Rt. axllia, Rt. femur, ilium. Possible Sacrum & liver? Now stage IV. 9-28-09 Loading dose of Herceptin & started Zometa 9-29-09 Power Port Placement 10-24-09 Mass 6.4 x 4.7 cm on Rt. femur head. 11-19-09 RT. Femur surgery - Rod placed 12-7-09 Navelbine added to Herceptin/Zometa. 3-23-10 Ten days of rads to RT femur. Completed. 4-05-10 Quit Navelbine--Herceptin/Zometa alone. 5-4-10 Appt. with Dr. Slamon to see what is next? Waiting on FISH results from femur biopsy. Results to FISH was unsuccessful--this happens less then 2% of the time. 7-7-10 Recurrence to RT axilla again. Back to UCLA for options.
