I should have clarified myself in saying that I had my tear duct reconstruction done about 4 years before my diagnose with cancer. I needed to have one because I had, had many sinus infections through out my whole life and it caused severe scarring of my tear duct on the right side. Following the reconstruction I was told to stay away from all cigarette smoke because that would close the duct off. A patient was in the next room from me and the specialist told him if he did not stop smoking he would be back in for another surgery of the same within the year. That is when I learned that if a person tears they do not have enough tears. It is easy to think if one is tearing then its too many but that is not the case. Thanks for all your replies. I am much better with the fresh tears and will continue to use them. hugs, Sandy
