Omega Fatty Acid Dilemma
RB, I concur with your overall assessment of the Omega-3/6 problem. I have tried to increase my Mom's Omega-3 levels as much as possible. The sharp stick in the eye with all of this, is the recent news that gamma-linolenic acid is capable of down-regulating the HER2/neu overexpression at the nuclear level. It's hard to pass on any chance to effect the malignant cell on such a core basis. That's why I have chosen simply to try and provide a much better Omega-3 to 6 ratio. I had been relying heavily on flaxseed oil to provide Omega-9 (oleic acid), but it's other components of Omega-6 has led me to use olive oil alone to get the oleic acid. I'm sure someday somebody will figure this all out at the clinical level, but until then we must continue to read and experiment. I only hope I am doing the right things. We shall see. Thanks again for your extensive post, as I found it most informative. Take care.
Tom
