I would like to tell you that the marker and "manage" part of your equation, at least, is what my brother is doing with prostate cancer. He was given 2 years to live 13 years ago. He refused an operation (also no rads) due to how invasive it would have had to be, his young age, 51, and the fact that he works and travels for work quite often. He went on heavy hormones for a couple of years. Now, he keeps track of his PSA and goes on hormones whenever it goes up. This was new to his oncologists and they only very reluctanly went along with the plan. He is still working and still traveling on a weekly basis.
So your idea certainly has merit. Looking forward to your telling us more about it when you are 13 years out!
