As a person with year-round indoor and outdoor allergies, I always need some kind of allergy med (and I don't take Benedryl, either - now I take Allegra). This is perhaps why I have never had the symptoms so many are complaining of - the drippy nose, etc. Nor have I ever taken premeds with my Herceptin during the 3 years on it alone.
As for a dry cough - that most likely is NOT a side effect of Herceptin.
My husband has had a persistent cough for months, and his ears were starting to bother him. I kept telling him it seemed more like an allergy. His docs did a chest x-ray and found a lung nodule. Then it was a PET/CT scan to get a better look. Well, it IS a new nodule, but doesn't seem cancerous.
So the docs kept going and took a look at his meds. They decided he may now be allergic to his blood pressure med. So, they changed it and gave him a nasal spray to use. He is MUCH better now.
There can be numerous reasons for a dry or persistent cough.
