Yes, the PET/CT is the newest and supposed to be better than either a PET or CT by themselves, but the reason I had to have the PET and not the PET/CT is because it's SO new my clinic isn't contracted with the company that does the scan, so it's an insurance issue for me. I don't know whether it's more expensive for the fusion, but they do like to have something to compare it to, and in my case they're going to compare this PET to the one I had last spring plus the CT scan I had in December.
