Breast cancer is a systemic disease. What prtects us from diffuse metastatic disease is the ability of our immune system. Immune support is a fundamental principle in both treatment and prevention of BC. A treatment that damages our immune system must be viewed with caution.
It's true that surgery does not spread cancer, but it puts the immune system in emergency mode so cancer cells can grow undetected.
In my case there were 2 possibilities; 1) chemo killed all cancer cells in my lymph nodes 2) the possibilities of lot of cancer cells in lymph nodes and they had to remove a lot of them.
I did a lot of thinking; to me cancer has to be cured internaly. Chemo, surgery and radiation are some tools to help but our immune system is the key to help us get rid of this disease forever.
Our lymphatic system is intimately related and a important part of our immune system. Tumor cells that enter lymphatic channels can also enter the bloodstream having access to our entire body. Given this fact, hastily removing lymph nodes is somewhat akin to closing the ban door after the horses have already gotten out.
I don't know there is a big conteroversy about lymph nodes these days. But I'm sure the future of cancer cure is not surgery and chemo. But Vaccine or drugs like Herceptin which help the immune suystem to kill cancer cells.
