While I know it is the upbeat and optimistic thing to bring the message of hope with these new treatments, I have a hard time with the glossy optimism with which it is presented.

First of all, many of these new treatments will not be available for several years to come, far too late for those of us with aggressive mets.

Second, many of these drugs have not even been studied in breast cancer. So it will be even longer for us. I tried to get on a trial for SU11248 even contacting the primary researcher in France begging for a spot. They had very few spots for breast cancer. I can't remember the number but it was like 3 and all had been taken. The researcher in the US said that when it went to phase 2, I wasn't even going to be eligible becuase I have had "too much treatment."

I too went to ASCO multiple times looking for my miracle drug. I found drugs that HAD been tested on breast cancer and had good results and was very excited but I could not get into these trials again because I had too much treatment.

So I guess for people like me who are running out of options and aren't eligible for the few trials of these new drugs that include breast cancer and who can't wait for the drugs to be FDA approved years from now, we are just supposed to crawl into our hole and give up.

Now what was that again about hope?

Sorry, I guess I am just angry at the whole process of clinical trials, how slowly they move, how long it takes to get drugs approved and how people die waiting for promising treatments.
