I think about this too.......
First of all it seems like a no-brainer, if we don't do the treatment we won't kill the cancer & survive long enough to experience any possible long term side effects.
Beyond that - how does one weigh what potential side effects are "worth the risk". We won't all get the side effects, even if we do, they won't all be permanent & we won't know until we try.
The warnings that concern me the most are the ones that say the drug could cause leukemia or other kinds of cancers. I know of a couple of people who have developed leukemia after having had lots of chemo or rads for another cancer.
So, I don't think there's a clear answer, but it's yet another significant piece we need to cope with.
