Ladies,
I have been following this web site for years and all of the stories of the courageous women fighting the battle with this terrible disease. This web site has been a guide for my own battle with BC which began in 1991. I was initially diagnosed in December, 1991 with a 2-cm tumor in my left breast and 4 positive lymph nodes. Below is my history:
1/92-Surgical removal of tumor and nodes
1992- 6 months Cytoxin, Adriamyacin and Flouracil
36 radiation treatments.
1992-5/2001-5-years of Tamoxifin, Femora, Aromasin, etc.
5/2001-7cm tumor recurs in liver and 5 tumors in liver.
6/2001-12/2001-Taxotere and Navilbene- All tumors reduced
1/2002-Tumors in liver refractory to treatments-Herceptin started.
4/2002-Remarkable response to Herceptin all tumors virtually disappear.
5/2002-Surgery to ablate all remaining tumors in liver. Lung tumor disappeared.
5/2002-1/2005-NED-Weekly Herceptin treatments. Participant in University of Washington Vaccine protocol. Excellent immune response.
1/2005-Reminants of lung tumor show signs of cancer. Surgical removal of upper lobe of left lung. Gemzar added to Herceptin treatments.
4/2005-Stroke while on trip to Italy (probably caused by high platelet count from Gemzar)-Small brain tumor located.
5/2005-Gamma Knife surgery to eliminate brain tumor. NED
9/2005-Recurrance of tumors in liver-Surgical ablation of all tumors. Continued treatment with Herceptin with 6 months of Xeloda.
9/2005-9/2013 NED with weekly treatment of Herceptin. (Recurrance of same tumor in brain-Second Gamma Knife surgery.
9/2013-CT shows tumor in Mesentary of small intestine. Surgery Scheduled for September 27th, followed by Kadcyla.
Wanted to know the common side effects of Kadcyla and what to watch for.
